CYBERSECURITY

hat is cybersecurity and why should you be concerned about it?
W Cybersecurity is the practice of safeguarding computers, servers,
mobile devices, electronic systems, networks and data from malicious attacks.

Technology has certainly simplified and enhanced our lives, but with that
comes some concerns, such as hackers stealing our personal information.
Fortunately, at Means we use a custodian, Fidelity, that takes the protection
of your personal information very seriously. If you become a victim of identity
theft, they have their own security guarantees. Those guarantees cover 100
percent of losses (not investment losses) in any of your Means accounts due
to unauthorized activity, as long as they occur through no fault of your own.
Transactions and other activities made by Means as your investment advisor
        are considered authorized by you.
There are, however, steps you can take to safeguard your financial accounts.

           • Keep your software and operating systems up to date.
           • Use strong passwords, not ones that could be easily guessed (like a
             pet’s name).
           • Change your passwords frequently.
           • Refrain from opening emails from unknown origins.
           • Install anti-virus software and update it periodically.
           • Refrain from opening links or attachments from senders you don’t recognize.
           • Don’t use unsecure WIFI networks in public places.
           • Check your financial accounts frequently to identify any fraudulent activity.
By following these guidelines, you can protect yourself and your financial
accounts from being hacked and from fraud. n
