Job Summary:
We are looking for a detail-oriented, analytical, and technology-minded individual to join our Portfolio Management team as a Trading Analyst. This individual will support the firm’s trading and portfolio management functions, helping ensure that client portfolios are managed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with our investment strategies.
The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in investment management, exceptional attention to detail, and a high level of comfort with technology and artificial intelligence.
This is an in-office position that may be based in either our Bangor, Maine, or Greenville, South Carolina, office.
Responsibilities:
- Trading and Portfolio Support
- Utilize Tamarac trading and portfolio management software to support trading, rebalancing, account monitoring, model implementation, and portfolio management administration.
- Assist with the preparation, review, and execution of trades across client accounts
- Support portfolio rebalancing, tax-loss harvesting, cash investment, and cash-raising activities
- Monitor portfolios for cash needs, allocation differences, investment restrictions, and other items requiring action
- Help ensure that trading activity is implemented accurately and consistently with client objectives and firm investment strategies
- Coordinate with portfolio managers, advisors, and client service team members regarding account-specific needs
- Analysis and Oversight
- Review trading and portfolio data for accuracy and research discrepancies, rejected trades, and other exceptions
- Assist with monitoring investment models and identifying accounts that have moved outside established parameters
- Maintain appropriate trading documentation and support compliance, audit, and reporting needs
- Assist with other investment-related analysis and projects as needed
- Technology and Process Improvement
- Use technology and AI tools thoughtfully to support analysis, documentation, quality control, and workflow improvements
- Identify opportunities to improve the accuracy, consistency, and efficiency of trading and investment processes
- Independently review and validate AI-generated information before relying on it
- Learn and adapt to new systems and emerging technologies while following the firm’s confidentiality, cybersecurity, and compliance requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Data Analytics, or a related field
- Prior experience in investment management, trading, portfolio operations, or financial services preferred, but not required for a candidate with a strong academic or analytical background
- Series 65 or equivalent qualification preferred; successful completion will be required within six months of employment
- Interest in pursuing the CFA designation and building a long-term career in investment management is a plus
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Demonstrated intellectual curiosity and comfort with technology, including the ability to leverage AI and automation tools while exercising sound judgement and independent verification
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and the broader Microsoft Office suite
- Experience with portfolio accounting, trading or custodial platforms a plus
- Professional communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive client and firm information
- Interest in pursuing a long-term career in investment management
